Earn miles and Status Points through flying

Written by Tyler Glatt

In this guide, you’ll learn how to earn both redeemable points and status points toward Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards elite status on flights

Earning with Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines

To earn redeemable Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points and elite-qualifying status points on flights, you’ll first need to enroll in Atmos Rewards.

For eligible flights operated by Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, earnings are based on the fare class you purchase. Atmos Rewards publishes separate earning charts for first class and economy, with members earning a combination of base points, cabin bonus points (where applicable), and elite-qualifying status points — all as a percentage of miles flown.

* Saver fares booked on or after June 11, 2026, for travel on or after August 1, 2026, do not earn Atmos Rewards points or status points.

Atmos Rewards elite members also earn additional redeemable bonus points based on miles flown. These bonuses apply only to redeemable points and do not increase the number of elite-qualifying status points earned:

  • Silver: 25% bonus
  • Gold: 50% bonus
  • Platinum: 100% bonus
  • Titanium: 150% bonus

Example earnings

To see how these earning rates work in practice, consider a one-way Alaska Airlines flight from New York (JFK) to Seattle (SEA).

The route covers 2,421 flown miles. Assuming you purchase a Y fare (earning 100% base points, a 50% cabin bonus, and 150% status points) and hold Atmos Rewards Platinum status (100% elite bonus), here’s what you’d earn:

Earning typeRate (% of miles flown)Points earned
Base points100%2,421
Bonus points (cabin bonus)50%1,211
Total redeemable points (before elite bonus)150%3,632

Elite-qualifying status points150%3,632

Note: Point totals are rounded to the nearest whole point.

Earning with Partner Airlines

You can also earn redeemable Atmos Rewards points and elite-qualifying status points on eligible partner airline flights, including those operated by Oneworld members and most non-alliance partners. However, how many points you’ll earn depends on where you book your ticket.

Atmos Rewards uses one earning chart for partner flights booked through alaskaair.com and another for flights booked directly through a partner airline’s website.

Atmos Rewards publishes a list for each partner airline that describes which fare classes make up each cabin, which is viewable here.

Atmos Rewards elite members also earn an additional redeemable points bonus on eligible partner flights based on their elite status. As with Alaska and Hawaiian flights, this bonus applies only to redeemable points and does not increase the number of elite-qualifying status points you earn.

Note that STARLUX Airlines flights booked via partner site are not currently eligible to earn Atmos Rewards status points.

Award Travel

Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards lets you earn elite-qualifying status points on award flights booked with Atmos Rewards points.

On eligible flights operated by Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and partner airlines bookable through Atmos Rewards, including American Airlines, Qatar Airways, and more, you’ll earn one status point per mile flown regardless of cabin, elite status, or how many points you redeemed. These are elite-qualifying status points only, so you won’t earn redeemable miles.
