Begin by signing up for Shell Fuel Rewards using your AAdvantage account.
The Fuel Rewards program allows you to earn every time you fill up at a Shell. Before you begin to fill up your vehicle, you will enter your phone number to earn miles. The program usually earns a discount for each fill-up, but the partnership with American Airlines allows you to earn 3 miles (and Loyalty Points) for each gallon instead.
There is currently a promotion for 250 bonus miles when you sign up for the program and fill up at Shell. While these bonus miles do not count towards Loyalty Points, your fill-ups do. For example, if you fill up 10 gallons, you will earn 30 miles (and Loyalty Points). Note that the program caps earnings at 20 gallons per fill-up.
How long does it take for points to post?
Fuel Rewards users have reported that earnings can take up to 7 business days to post after the sale (usually post overnight Thursday to Friday).
