We understand that there might be a concern that the reward for an order will post after the February 29th deadline to achieve or maintain Status on your American Airlines account. Please note that American Airlines posts rewards to member accounts using the transaction date, so any rewards posting after the deadline with a transaction date on or before February 29th will still be counted towards your 2024 Status.

Some users prefer to use a private or masked e-mail address when signing up for merchants to avoid spam e-mails.
There are various services that offer a solution:
-
- Gmail: use variations of your email address
- iCloud: create unique, random email addresses
- Buy a domain: Buy a Google domain and add forwarding to your primary e-mail address. Find yourself a .com domain you like, add it to cart, then use promo code FRIENDSOFDOMAINS to drop the price down to $9. Make sure that privacy protection is ON, and auto-renew is OFF. Don’t purchase any other services such as Google Workspace. After purchasing the domain, navigate to the domain Settings and select Email from the left side. Scroll down to the E-mail Forwarding section and add a wild card (*) to forward ANY e-mail @ your domain to your primary e-mail address (documentation).
Some users prefer to use virtual cards when signing up for merchants to prevent surprise card charges or to prevent fraud. Virtual cards create a virtual number for safe online shopping and can lock the card after a certain date.
There are various services that offer a solution:
- CapitalOne: shop with virtual card numbers
- Citi: select Citi cards offer virtual account numbers
- Privacy.com: automatically generated virtual cards
Points are considered posted when they appear in your AAdvantage account. Unless otherwise noted, the activity date will be the date of the transaction, regardless of when it is posted. For example, if you book a hotel stay for the future, the activity date will be the checkout date. Or if your flight took place February 28 and it doesn’t post until March 5, it counts towards the previous program year.
- Paid Surveys Online: Almost immediately
- Flights on AA: points post within 24 hours after completing the travel (purchases for flights with an AA co-branded card post after the close of your billing cycle each month). The activity date is the departure date.
- BAAH / RM: 5-7 business days after the stay. In some cases, it can take up to 6 weeks. The activity date will be the checkout date.
- SimplyMiles (SM): users have reported that it varies significantly. Some earnings are posted the next day, others take a week or two, or longer.
- AAdvantage eShopping: It will depend on the terms. Some post in a day, others in a week, or even after a 60-day period. With some merchants, you must wait until the order is picked up or delivered. Regardless, you will have to give at least 15 days. If it doesn’t post within 15 days, you submit a request for credit. Cartera will research the request and it may take 6-8 weeks to resolve (up to 6 months in extreme cases). Merchants typically don’t report earnings back to Cartera until the purchase has shipped, is picked up, or is completed. With some merchants, earnings may be split if items are shipped at different times.
- AAdvantage Dining: you will receive an e-mail within a day or two
- AA co-branded Cards: points earned through American Airlines co-branded credit cards are posted after the statement closes each month. Ensure that you’re AAdvantage # is added to your account
- AA Vacations: miles will post within 2 weeks after travel is complete. A mileage credit may appear in your account after travel for 0 miles but this is not the final amount.

Use the Loyalty Point Calculator to calculate how many miles and loyalty points you’ll earn by flying.
General
After logging in to your AAdvantage account on AA.com or in your app, you will find information about your status.
On the left, you will find your current status level and the date your current status ends.
On the right, you will see how many Loyalty Points you have earned during the current program year for next year’s status. Program years begin March 1 of each year and end February the following year.
Based on the example above, if in December 2023 you have 183,266 Loyalty Points and stop earning, you will be Platinum Pro beginning April 1, 2024, and lose the current Executive Platinum status.
Loyalty Points reset each program year.
